I don't know if it will be possible due to potential sensory issues that some

kids have, but a hair blow-dryer on a reasonably warm setting works wonderful as

first aid to relieve ear pain. You do have to get used to the noise. The air

blowing on the ear drum can really get amplified when things are sore so try not

to direct the air directly at the ear hole. I think the warm air can help soften

ear wax which may relieve some pain.

My Mom used to rub BenGay behind our ears before blow dryers were invented. She

said that the warmth stimulates blood circulation which can get cut-off due to

tissue swelling. I haven't tried any other type of sports cream, but the Ben Gay

worked really good for us except for the stink. She usually did this for us if

we had trouble getting to sleep.

I have no idea how much OLE to use. We use a liquid form that we found at

Re: [ ] ear infection and olive leaf extract

My almost 6-year-old and 60 pound ASD son probably has an ear infection.

He's been complaining of pain tonight but has no fever. He has not had an ear

infection in more than two years. He has never had a yeast problem, but I

would

still prefer to not give antibiotics if possible. Tonight, I started him on

Nature's Way Olive Leaf Extract capsules. Can anyone advise about the proper

dosage and frequency? I really have no idea about this. Tonight, I also gave

him an Advil Junior tablet, which he historically does tolerate despite being

on the Feingold Diet. I would really appreciate any advice. His birthday is

on Friday, and I want it to be a good day for him. Thanks so much.

Hi ,

I have used OLE at the rate of (NOW brand) 500 mg 2x/day (for 70 lb'er)

with no ill effects except that now my sons viral issues seem to have

been stirred up. He may have mono and he had a lot of mouth sores when

we used it. It also made him feel bad each time I gave it - he asked

to stop taking it both times. It may be what you need though. Happy

Birthday.

You could try some of the suggestions here:

http://califmichele.com/health/earache.html

And although I do use a blowdryer for my ear problems, I would not be inclined

to do that with a 6 year old. There are other heat treatments, like a hot water

bottle, warm bath, hot cocoa, etc. that will do the same thing more safely and

more comfortably.

Good luck.

It is not so very important for a person to learn facts. For that he does not

really need a college. He can learn them from books. The value of an education

in a liberal arts college is not learning of many facts but the training of the

mind to think something that cannot be learned from textbooks.

Hello , I use olive leaf for every thing...If I have caught

some pain early like my tooth starts to ache-- 1 capsule of 300mg

stops it in its tracks same thing with cold sores; but if it has

had some time to get going into an infection -I have found small

dose of 1/4 a capsule every 4 hour relieves the problem over several

days.

With my son who is 8 he takes it with a little honey and water in an

eyedropper since he will not swallow capsules -

My 2 Cents Ann

PS If this was my son I might put a little olive leaf in some

sunflower oil and put it in his ear when he went to bed.

Hi ,

I have used mullein oil ear drops (from HFS) for my boys. It worked

very well.

I know others have used garlic-mullein oil drops with success.

Hope your guy feels better for his birthday.

Garlic Oil drops have always worked for my son. I put them in his ear while

he is asleep.

I have done this and had the same success - almost spookt isn;t it LOL

Mandi in UK

I had a wicked painful ear infection, and I had instant pain relief

from using about 3 drops of Tea Tree oil mixed with a few drops of

warm olive oil straight into my ear. Let it hit bottom and then

tipped my head and let it run out. It was amazing!!!

Anything warm usually relieves ear ache pain. We use a blow dryer on the low air

setting. Some times a nice Dutch rub helps a lot with headaches.
