Hello,

I will be starting the diet with my daughter tomorrow. I have just

made my first batch of soup (and I mean that literally, never in my

life have I made home made soup. Had to call my cousin to find out

how to make the beef broth.)I am waiting on BTVC and my yogurt maker

which I ordered earlier. I have on hand the scd legal supplements

from Kirkman and the progurt from GI health. I have been reading old

posts here, the pecan bread webiste and Elaine's website. So I guess

I am ready to dive in.

My daughter's diagnosis is mitochondrial disease, she has seizures

and is dev delayed. As of the last year since being on canned formula

has had a terrible time with vomiting, and constipation. She does not

have a diagnosis of autism, but to me she has some of the symptoms.

Also she is tube fed. Before learning of this diet I had firmly

convinced our GI to assist me with putting her on foods I cook at

home and blend. Also waiting on commercial blender (that can even

blend up a rake). Then I heard about this and I felt I had finally

arrived at the right thing. Previously my daughter was on the

Ketogenic diet for 2 years with moderate success and so I feel

confident in going into this.

My first questions have to do with medications and supplement. She is

on many (Keppra, Tranxene, Trileptal, Carnitine, COQ10, vitamin B2,

Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Prevacid). Do you think that

I some of them compounded? Not sure how to tell the pharmicist to

make them fit with this diet. Any suggestions to help me get off to a

good start is appreciated.

Sheryl
