Electric skillet as a yogurt maker

Hello all,

This is my first post. I have a Deni yogurt maker, but I'm not

satisfied with the amount of yogurt that can be produced in one batch.

It's also inconvenient to empty the yogurt out of the six little jars.

Here's a link to the yogurt maker:

Has anyone tried an electric skillet? For example:

I'd like make larger batches and I think this could do the trick, but

I'm concerned that the temperature control wouldn't go low enough to

maintain 110 degrees.

Has anyone tried this method?

Regards,

-Trent

welcome trent!

the way i solved this was to buy a dehydrator. i have the excalibur

like a lot of other people here. we're still in the early stages of

the diet so we don't eat deydrated foods yet but it sure is handy for

making big batches of yogurt! it works great because you can set it

for the perfect temperature and i make 4 1-L mason jars of yogurt at

a time, which lasts me about 2 weeks. i'm sure you could easily fit

double that many jars. the only downsides i can think of are space

(it's kind of large) and noise. it's pretty noisy. i keep mine inside

the pantry and then close the door at night so don't hear it.
