Well..... actually, Trish, Elaine's website lists melatonin as illegal. I'm

really not sure why, and I do know that many parents of ASD kids use it anyway.

So, it's *technically* illegal.... but I have no idea why and to be honest, I

always just recommend that parents find a melatonin with no added illegals

because I think a good night's sleep is so essential for these kids (AND their

parents).

Maybe Sheila, Charlene or Mimi can let us know exactly why Elaine did not

approve of melatonin... in terms of how it would interfere with the diet.

Hey ,

Melatonin is legal, but some melatonin supplements are not. We used to

use chewables from Kirkmans before we went SCD, they were illegal

because of one of the additives. We now use Kirkmans capules with

magnesium. Look on the Pecanbread site for the legal supplements.

That's totally okay, Trish. I have just been talking with another veteran SCD

mom who knew Elaine better than I did.... and she can't figure out why Elaine

would have deemed melatonin illegal. I still wish we could hear from Sheila or

Mimi about this.

Melatonin may be deemed illegal since it tends to increase/enhance immune response.
