Guest guest
Dear all, It's a bit of a problem with the packaging not yet changed. Does anybody know if and how we can distinguish old wheat-containing See's candy packages from the new gluten free ones? I suppose some of the older packages will really still contain wheat unless they clear off the shelves very rapidly. It would be nice if there was some date (such as the sell by date) that tells us whether we are in fact in the wheat-free period. Cheers, Margot "Hersom, A." <susan.hersom@...> wrote: I laughed when I read where you were going to go this weekend. Because of the recent lawsuits, Mcs issued a statement that they have tested their fries and they tested gluten-free. Are any of you eating them again? Very curious because I miss eating them. Guest guest
If anyone wants to call See's and ask about the packaged candies and report back, I have their phone nos. (they are sick of hearing from me! :) ). 1-800-347-7337 for customer service. They might refer you to another no. if they can't answer your questions 1-800-78907337 - the consumer line. I custom made my pound of candy because I wanted to get only the ones I like to eat! Maybe you could do that to make sure that you have the newest candies. Guest guest
Hi ,Have a question on one of the chocolates at See's. I went in last week and bought a pound of individually picked peices. One type gave me a bit of concern, it has a marshmallow center with a crunchy cookie like lower half and chocolate shell. The lady said they roll that marshmellow in flour, or they did but she did not know if that was still the case. Either way I passed on it. Any possiblity you or someone here might know? Guest guest
Hi, Elaine! I would call See's at the phone nos. below or e-mail them at custserv@... with your concern. They confirmed with me that they do not add flour to the candies or dust the conveyor belt with flour anymore. However, I think there could be some See's candies made with some type of wafer or cookie inside. I know there are few candies with a malt flavoring. There used to be a book you could look at in the store with the ingredients listed. The only candies I really buy there are the raspberry, almond clusters, caramel and butter chew. I used to like the molasses chips, but I'm not sure if they have malt in them or not and I have not confirmed that yet. If you find out from See's which candies have some type of cookie or wafer inside (or even malt), please let us know. The list should be quite short.
