Petit Mal Seizures

Hi. has been off the diet for about 1 1/2

months. We at first started letting him have gluten

and casein with Creon, and everything seemed fine.

Then we tried letting him have all foods that he had

previously been allergic to, and still everything

seemed fine. Keep in mind that he is 21 months old

and went on the diet at 9 months, so he was on it for

a year. Up until yesterday, I thought everything was

okay. We were sitting at my mom's house, and he kind

of dazed off and was just completely gone for about 20

seconds. I pointed it out to my mom, who is a nurse,

but I thought maybe he was just daydreaming. I

mentioned to her that he's been doing that a lot

lately. Luckily, she's a nurse, and realized that

he's having petit mal seizures. He is absolutely

unresponsive during these episodes, and we cannot get

his attention. When I told my husband about it, he

said that he has caught him in these trances before,

and could not bring him out of them, he just

eventually snaps out of it. He hadn't been concerned,

because he knows that he was a big daydreamer as a

child and would often get in trouble at school for

doing it, he didn't realize that " daydreaming " like

that just isn't normal for a toddler of his age, and

with such frequency.

My question to you:

Have you witnessed this during infractions or during

breaks from the diet?

Is this just typical of an autistic child, diet or

not?

He has never been diagnosed with autism, we've never

taken him to a neurologist. We saw such improvement

when we implemented the diet that we did not want to

take him off of it just to get a diagnosis, but

without the diet, my husband and I have no doubt that

he would be full-blown autistic. He still has

autistic tendencies, alot of aggression, but is

generally normal now.

I called the DAN allergist today, and he said that he

has witnessed the petit mal seizures in autistic kids

after stopping the diet, but I want to know from you

guys. We went back to GFCF today, and we're going to

do food trials and a journal to see if it is one

offending food causing this. Thanks for any response

you can give, sorry so long.
