Guest guest
Celiac Community, I am expecting my first child in May and was wondering if anyone has recommendations for a celiac knowledgeable pediatrician at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. While I am hopeful that my child will not have Celiac (as I do), I'd rather be prepared. Many thanks for your recommendations and for all of the great posts in this group. Kind regards,
Guest guest
as far as I know, there is knowbody. Give a buzz to DrAron for recommandation. Or are you one of his patient already? he's so sweet. (we had enough with CPMC, we switched to kaiser. Please please please, never accept an appt with Dr Ilana Frieden at UCSF -ped dermatologist- she says in your face that food allergies and food intolerence do not exist but in your mind, and excema has nothing to do with them - but you should come back (and pay tchin tchin) every month to get your renewal of Rx for your baby) also, if you give birth at CPMC, you may want to give 10 phone calls about your diet. They kindof insist the peanut butter cookie is good for you and healthy for your milk (but the one I had on the phone was extra sweet, and they do try to be nice) then my .02: you wont intoduce gluten to your kid before a strict 18month anyway (preferably 24months, and more preferably 18months AFTER weaning so your own antibodies are gone from your baby system). So ped might not be so important at first. my only personal advice. Go easy on eggs. I ate so many eggs (like brunch while others would have sandwich).. my baby ended with ana-allergy to eggs on top of celiac. So if you know you're abusing any food to " compensate " gluten (or if all your cakes and cookies are almond/nut based), try to reduce to reasonable amounts so as not to overexpose your kid. (that's for third trim of pregnancy too, so starting ... today!) gluten free diets and favorite recipes for adults are not at all appropriate for kids. So in a couple years, you may want to join a baby allergies group. have to go, Sophie > > Celiac Community, > > I am expecting my first child in May and was wondering if anyone has > recommendations for a celiac knowledgeable pediatrician at California > Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco.
