Guest guest
We are finally seeing a neurosurgeon here in Hawaii (Oahu) and we have Kaiser as our insurance. I have heard negative things about Hawaii Ped. not supporting the helmet or bands. I even asked the nurse of the neurosurgeon if he has ever given a helmet and she said no. YIKES! My son who is 7 mo. has plagio on the left side but his eyes are aligned and facial feature look pretty normal. However, I am concerned with the alignment of his ears. We have been repositioning him for about three months but haven't seen any change. Do you have any advice for me going to his first appointment. How can I convince the doctor to write a prescription for his treatment. Key arguments on why treatment needs to be done. Are there any medical problems children w/ plagio? Guest guest
You definitely run a risk of sinus and tmj (jaw alignment) problems if not treated. Guest guest
While you are there, you may want to also try to find out if there are any helmet providers in Hawaii. I took a quick look online, but I wasn't able to find any locations. The neurosurgeon should know where you can go for a helmet, even if he won't give you a prescription. If he does know of a provider, call them and find out if you can get measurements done without a prescription. Good luck! > > We are finally seeing a neurosurgeon here in Hawaii (Oahu) and we have Kaiser as our insurance. I have heard negative things about Hawaii Ped. not supporting the helmet or bands.
