Guest guest
Hi there,I can't answer your question below.. but, I have to tell you I have been having a very similar problem for my son (but he wears a Starband). It fit so well for a while, and then after the past 2 adjustments (they corrected the plagio first, where he had a tremendous amount of correction, 16mm asymmetry down to 1/4mm there, and then this has been happening since adjusting the band to correct his brachy). We have been having massive slipping problems with it either moving forward, or more commonly sideways over his ear. This generally happens when he is sleeping and wiggles a bit. They tried to secure it more on the cheek holds.. but it's still slipping. This past time they tried to put in basically what amounted to moleskin in the section where his head bulges a bit still to give it more grip. So far, we have not found much that helps.. and it's really frustrating me, b/c I haven't had him wearing it as much b/c I'm worried that it's in the wrong position a lot and will misshape his head! We've been going in every single week for an adjustment.. which is really not fun. I do hope that someone out there might have a solution. I can totally empathize! So far though, the tech has not mentioned anything about his hair though, which honestly I can't imagine that being the solution.. but I have no idea! I hope there is a solution!GenevieveFrom: kpetersb <kpetersb@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Tue, September 14, 2010 7:14:10 PMSubject: 2nd Doc Band and Hair Cut Hello All, Looking for feedback to see if anyone has been told a similar story or if this makes sense. My son is in his 2nd Doc Band. We had great success for his Plagio in the first band and are looking for further correction and to address his Brachy in this band. Ever since we went in for a second adjustment on the band, it has not seemed to fit right, always rotating to the side. I thought it would stop once he grew a bit, but two adjustments later, it's still rotating and appears uncomfortable. I didn't think that continuing to reposition it was a good response, so I have continually asked about it. At the last appointment, the tech advised that we should cut his hair and that it was affecting the holding points. He has very fine hair and I just want to make sure that it isn't just a bad fitting band and that cutting his hair will truly help. We didn't have any problems with the first band, but his hair was a bit shorter. Thank you all in advance for any thoughts. This group has been a great source of support since we began our journey. Guest guest
Genevieve, Thank you for the response. It is always comforting to know there is someone else out there dealing with a similar situation. For what it's worth, we did end up trimming his hair over his ears (sort of a modified mohawk) and it seems to help a little. Not sure if this is because he's grown a bit or the haircut. We go in next week, so we'll see what the growth is like. In my opinion it's still rotating too much over his ear. Good luck to you and your little one also! . > > Hi there, > I can't answer your question below.. but, I have to tell you I have been having > a very similar problem for my son (but he wears a Starband).
