starting ALA

Hi,

After doing 16 rounds of chelation with DMSA only, I want to try adding

ALA. I am presently up to 33 mg of DMSA every four hours. Is there any

reason why I can't take a single low dose (5 mg) of ALA in the middle of

a DMSA round to see how I tolerate it? I am hoping the DMSA will prevent

any redistribution. If it doesn't agree with me, can I stop after one

dose and just continue the round with DMSA? I want to be very cautious

with ALA, since that is how I got really sick. My doctor gave it to me

when my fillings were still in.

Thanks,

Bernadette

That is an interesting question. I think it should be fine but I am

no expert. My husband was really sick during his first two rounds of

ALA+DMSA, he had huge headaches (he never has headaches usually) and

had to stay in bed because he felt so miserable. And he had done 12

rounds of DMSA prior to that and he was not even very toxic! He just

wanted to chelate at the same time as our son.

So, this is just to warn you that the first rounds of ALA are usually

difficult, even with a very low dose.

Good luck,
