Guest guest
There are quite a few parents on here that treated after the year mark and had good results. As for if it's worth it, that's up to you. Were I in your shoes I'd go a head with it after fighting so long to get it. It can only help and if I had any question I would go a head instead of regretting not doing it down the road. Will it even do any good now? Any thoughts or experiences are appriciated. We're supposed to get the re-scan done Wednesday. His assyms in May were 17mm for his cranial vault and 12mm for his skull base. Here's a couple of pics that I sent to my insurance company. Thanks in advance. Guest guest
The headshape doesn't look all that bad. But there could be some mild asymmetry in the eyes that may become more apparent when he is older. Sounds like Hanger gets an "F" on service and professionalism. If this is any indication on the competency of the staff I would go somewhere else. I would not forgo treatment all together, What about Starband, or CT? Also look into seeing an Osteopath, you may be able to resolve it at that level. Guest guest
Yes, get the helmet. In most cases a childs skull bones do not fuse completely until they are 18 months old. It is worth a try, just think of your son. Guest guest
Just to clarify one thing, the sutures of the skull do not FULLY fuse until our late teens, early 20s. They only BEGIN to fuse after 1 year old, which can slow down progress. I will always say it's worth trying to band well before you get to the " what do we do now " stage. I think it's worth moving forward, although it definitely stinks that they didn't alert you to the bad scan sooner. I think you're the second person that I've heard that happen to. If you're not happy with Hanger and can go somewhere else, I might consider that. But I do think banding would be beneficial. Good luck! Please keep us posted! Guest guest
I would say - yes, you should... but can you go to a different facility? Is there a DOC provider nearby? I'd be concerned about the care you will recieve if they don't even call to do a 2nd scan.
