day 3 in starband

Well, it's day 3 and things seem to be going well for our 6 month old

son. We are being seen in Oakland, CA (referred by Kaiser). He

doesn't seem to mind the band much. The only time it seems to bug him

is putting the band on or taking it off. I have noticed that he's not

crazy about tummy time anymore with it on, but I am happy to report

that the band has not kept him from rolling around (which I wasn't

sure if it would set him back or not). The head sweating seems to

come and go.

I do have a few concerns - (1) the band seems a little loose? Like it

shifts a bit in his sleep or when I am breastfeeding him. He def.

looks like he's got some room to grow in it, which I assume is normal?

The tech took a fair amount of time checking out the fit, etc. and I

have to trust he knows what he's doing :) I was just curious if this

was normal? (2) Him sleeping in it freaks me out a bit. He's been

sleeping on his tummy mostly now - and seems to sleep face down -

totally freaks me out!! Some friends of ours let us borrow their Angel

Care monitor which I started using tonight. Last night was his first

night wearing the band and I checked on him a gazillion times I think!!

All in all, I think the whole thing stresses me out more than him. I

have so much guilt about it all - I assume that's fairly normal as well :)

Hi,

I'm glad to hear your little boy is doing so well in his band. My

son has been in his DoC band for 3 months. I think that it is normal

to have a little slipping and extra room in them. Zach my son always

has had in his and it doesn't seem to cause him any problems at all.

We were a severe case and will probably go through 3 bands to get the

correction he needs. The biggest thing for us is watching the red

marks especially close to adjustment time. Just remember if your

little guy seems uncomfy call and get in for an adjustment. If he's

sweating don't worry too much that passes in two weeks tops, then

they adjust to the new temperature. Good luck
