Hi Chanda,

I have seen this reccomendation only re the jumperoo, but our PT told us to use both. He said that any time your child is forced to hold up his own head he is usingb the SCM and that is good. We got our son out of the swing/bouncy seat stuff super early and into the jumperoo/exersaucer type toys early (3mo's), and there seemed to be no ill effects. We also used the bumbo seat which helps little ones sit up. Anything to get him off the back of his head and to hold his own head up.

Hope this helps

Do Exersaucers and Jumpers make tort worse?

Hi All

I was browsing Internet for some dos and donts for a baby with tort and plagio. I read quite a few places that Exersaucers and Jumpers make tort worse because they put lot of stress on baby's weak neck muscles. What do you think? Were you ever asked by any of your PEDs,PTs, or any doctors to limit or completely avoid these?

My son loves bouncing in his Jumporee . I hate to stop him playing in it . But I also want to make sure what I am doing is not making his tort worse.

Thanks

Chanda
