hard ...like something the kids get when they get hit...i was so scared

and took him to the helmet provider...they said they havent seen

anycase like this...may be its becaz of the long duration and he is

The most common type of bump kids get is swollen lymph nodes, but

since sydney didn't have them I don't know where on the head they are.

You could probably see online if there is a lymph node in that spot.

Also kids get bumps with the docband where it is open (there is a gap)

but this is fluid build up and takes time to develop from what I know.

I would make sure that the helmet isn't irritating the area where the

bump is, and try to wait and see if it goes away (assuming it isn't

getting worse or very irritated).

Hi Nazrin--

It's hard to say about the bumps when i can't see it. Merrick had a

swollen lymph on the back right bottom side of his head--right where

his head rounds down to his neck. I could tell it was a lymph because

it moves--although the peditrician said it could be a lymph or a

cyst. He had it before he got the helmet on. I probably caught it

since I was so obsessed with wanting to see improvements of the

plagio with repo. The other bump he is is in the area of the velcro--

this is the one that his provider attributed to wearing a wedding

ring, and that it will go away. I don't quite remember when we first

saw that bump in the velcro area--he has been in his DOC band for 2

1/2 weeks at this point, so I think it was between weeks 1 and 2.

Regarding wear schedule, from talking with other moms with LOs in

bands, it seems that the beginning schedule alters from child to

child--especially if one has brachy versus one with plagio. We were

told to do 3 hours on and 1 off at first, only putting it on if any

red spots faded away in that hour--if not we were to keep it off. We

picked it up on a Friday am and they wanted him in it full time--23

hours per day--on that Sunday. We were told we could let him sleep in

it as early as that first night if all was well--I have heard of a

mom with a son with brachy being told not to let them sleep in it the

first couple nights.
