Guest guest
God had been very busy lately, but She asked me to tell you to go ahead with the band (just kidding, I hope nobody is offended). I would definitely band at 17mm. Our doctor (cranio facial plastic surgeon) recommends banding at 10mm or above and some band at lower numbers. If anything I would check out the hanger office a little better and make sure they have a good reputation, or consider going somewhere else. I would be really mad if they didn't call me about something like this. Also between getting the scan and getting the band, it shouldn't be longer than 2 weeks. Otherwise it might not fit properly since your baby will be growing all the time. Even after 1 year babies can get a lot of correction from banding. The key is an ortho that has good experience banding babies. You'll find a lot of parents here that banded at 12 mo or later and are quite glad they did. -christine sydney 2.5 yrs starband grad > > > One of my twins, Austin, was diagnosed with plagio and tort in May 2008. > After 3 denials, I finally got the approval from my insurance companyat > the beginning of September. Guest guest
All I can tell you from experience is do not be discouraged by the bumps in the road. Fight for what your gut tells you to do, and if you are not happy with his head right now, do something while you can. If you don't have a good feeling about this place, go somewhere else. You will be working closely with these people over the course of the treatment and it's important to have a good working relationship with them. I was very fortunate to have great people working in our corner and I still stay in touch with them. Don't give up, though. It will all be worth it in the end. Guest guest
Thanks for the replies everyone! We were originally going to use the DOCBand place here, but in the middle of us getting the insurance approval, they stopped taking ANY insurance (it's a franchise here in Houston). Then, I took him to a Starband place because we were anticipating an approval. I liked them but my insurance took them off our network list. I have an EPO, so we have to use someone on the list, or Cigna won't cover it at all. Hanger is the one that Cigna told us we had to use. I'm still going to get Austin his helmet. Yesterday, I was so frustrated I was crying as I typed the original post. I know it will be worth it, but it just seems like when we're about to get his helmet, something else comes up. I really feel like screaming half the time! Thanks again everyone!
