Guest guest
Yes, I think it is worth switching your ped if needed. You don't want to regret it later when you can't fix his head. It is really frustrating how ignorand many docs are about banding and plagio. You've been working on this one way or another for 4.5 mo - that is long enough, it is time for a band! -christine sydney 2.5 yrs starband grad > From: Sandy Ruff <sandysruff (DOT) com> > Subject: Re: Pediatrician and Neuro surgeon are not ready to give prescription for Helmet > Plagiocephaly > Date: Wednesday, August 13, 2008, 3:39 AM > > I am so sorry! Guest guest
my daughter got her band with a CI of 97% and was 85% at graduation. Not perfect, but okay. With brachy the extra width/height doesn't go away. You should get good results too, but you do need to band soon. Guest guest
Chanda, Your baby's measurement are kind of similar to my daughter's. Maysa was banded at 5 1/2 months with a CI of 100% and an asymmetry of 7mm. After 4 weeks of treatment, her CI went down to 96.6% and her asymmetry down to 3.29mm. She still has a long way to go but it is working. I know that her head is starting to fill out the helmet (our helmet has holes in the back so I can insert a Q-tip and see how much more she needs to grow and the distance is getting shorter and shorter). Maysa will be 7 months old tomorrow and I have no doubt that she will improve even more by her next scan in about two weeks from now. So, good luck banding your baby and seeing results. Guest guest
Hi Chanda, I wanted to mention something else about " severe " brachy. I have heard the numbers Molly mentioned, but our doctor (cranio facial plastic surgeon) recommends banding at 90% or above. So Although 88% is considered " severe " by some, it doesn't mean that everyone agrees. I think brachy is becoming more common with back sleeping, and doctors don't necessarily agree about when it needs to be treated. I would band at 100%, but don't wanted to give you a little more data. -christine sydney 2.5 yrs starband grad > From: > Sandy Ruff <sandysruff@...> > > Subject: Re: Pediatrician and Neuro surgeon are not ready to give > prescription for Helmet > > Plagiocephaly > > Date: Wednesday, August 13, 2008, 3:39 AM > > > > I am so sorry!
