I think decorating the helmet makes a big difference. We have Kalina's name

written in

little rhinestone sticker letters on the front. When most people see her their

first comment

is saying hello to her by name, then they ask about it. I'm a teacher, and when

I would

bring her to school to visit kids would always ask why she's wearing it. I tell

them to help

her head grow round and they are ok with that answer and off to something else.

We haven't had ANY negative issues/looks so I hope you have the same experience.

My

attitude about the whole thing is to open and willing to answer questions. I

don't avoid

eye contact and we are out and about all the time.

Good luck!

I too, was nervous, that only lasted our first trip out. I have found

that most people just ask and I respond. The kids that have said

something think it's a bike helmet. I had one fellow Mom ask if it was

giving medication because she was premature? Hello, and you

have 4 kids?

i did have one crotchety old nasty old lady make a comment, and my

response, which she could not hear, but my mother could, " It's keeping

her scull together so her brains don't fall out " , ok, maybe I wasn't

too nice that afternoon.

Most you will find that are just happy that we have access to such

devises to help our little ones.

Good luck!
