Hello all,

I have an interesting project that I would like to start this

weekend --- trying to get our insurance company to reimburse us for our DOC

Bands! The situation is as follows: Our insurance carrier DOES

cover bands when prescribed from a pediatrician. The catch is that they

only cover up to 12 months of age. We returned home from China with our

adopted son, Samson, in March. As he spent most of his life laying on his

back in his crib, in an orphanage, he had a strikingly flat spot on the back of

his head. As he was 14 months of age when we returned, and immediately

were referred to Cranial Technologies here in Phoenix, the insurance claims people

have refused any reimbursement for his first band. We had such amazing

positive change from the first band, we did go forward with a second band just

recently in hopes of even better results! We are now nearly $7,000 out of

pocket, and I am not sure how to proceed with at least trying to get SOME

degree of reimbursement.

It’s a strange situation. We’ve paid premiums

for years and years and never used our medical insurance for much of

anything. I guess I always figured that if a time ever came when we WOULD

need it, there would be no problems. This is something that he really

needed for his growth and development, it was not just cosmetic. Can

anyone point me in the right direction?
