Thanks for the info. I am glad to hear that your son had so much

improvement. My PT has already mentioned to me that they would want

to follow Jake (even if it is just once a month) until he is about 1-

year-old. She would just like to track his development.

He gets his STARband next Saturday - I am nervous but also anxious to

finally start correcting his plagio.

I have already noticed changes in him with just a week of working on

PT exercises. I only wish our Ped had suggested this sooner (in

fact, our Ped thought his Tort was gone - was she wrong!)

Thanks again - Jenn

cranial helmet and he is done! So happy - it worked great. We fixed

his plagio 90%. We went to PT starting at 5 months for about 6-7

weeks I think it was. He really got better and the PT shows you so

much that you can do at home and continue to do after you are done

with PT. A lot got better and he became so strong sitting up.

is 10 months - he is not doing some things that he should be so I

asked the doctor about it and she said PT would probably not be

covered just for gross motor delay so to use our county based program

called Early On. So I called yesterday and they come to my home in

about 2 weeks. So if they say he is fine, just a little behind in

gross motor, I will feel better. If they say, yep he should be

crawling, he should be able to sit himslef up from a lying position,

he should be able to pull up on things better than he does, he

shouldn't be slouching (leaning) in his high chair - then we can move

forward with strengthening. I believe he just isn't as strong as he

should be. But he is so smart and he does walk while we hold his

hands....so those things make us comfortable that the other stuff,

just needs a little work.

with Tort, did you see a delay in gross motor skills later in the

game? (Meaning he had PT when he was 5-6 months and now he is 10

months and lagging behind a little with gross motor.)

Hi Jenn,

We do have an appointment set up for next week with an opthamologist.

The PT said that it is a good foundation to have, even if there are

no problems, to know the condition of the eyes when tort is diagnosed.

She thinks his watery eye could be that he is working that muscle

more. Tort can make the eye muscles uneven, hence one needing to work

harder than the other. She mentioned treating a girl until she was

two, she just wasn't getting better. She kept recommending an eye

exam to the parents who finally got one when she was two! They found

her problem to be ocular and after her surgery, she walked into her

next appointment with her head straight! So I think it's worth

getting it checked, even if to just rule out one more possibility.

Our second appointment with the PT went great. We are already seeing

such great response to the stretching and strengthening exercises.
