Guest guest
Thanks for responding- I truly appreciate it. I feel so sad and lost in this whole situation. We go to Hanger, at quite frankly,I feel like the ortho has one too many patients and doesnt quite remember my situation from time we talk on the phone, to the time we see him at a followup. Okay the ortho scheduled the first followup appt. three weeks later, which would be this friday the 17th. However, I had that issue with the ridges in Seth's head so I called and saw him last friday. We live two hours away, so its gotta be planned ahead. I really want to look in the refund, bc i feel that Seth's head is regressing. However that should havebeen noticed at the initial fitting. Also I'm not sure if you hadfollow up visits, but after the fitting you would normally go for acheck after a week or two. How often do you see the ortho? What kindof band do you have? I guess if this is happening so soon I am alittle worried about your ortho and if he is experienced enough. Youmight want to get some opinions if others on the board have gone there. -christinesydney 2.5 yrs starband grad>> > Hey guys,> > My son Seth is nearly 6 months in just one week. Guest guest
Do you have any before band pictures? Then you can compare his head to before and now? I may have missed this. Have you posted pictures of him i his band? Guest guest
Our first helmet was too small also, the velcro wouldn't close. We're with Hanger also. But they immediately noticed it wouldn't close and decided on a re-scan. (The second one was too big, because they over corrected, but the third one is just right) Hanger didn't charge us anymore for the two new helmets, they said it was all the same cost no matter how many helmets they needed to make. The orthotist did say that he had to do four one time for one kid. I wrote before that there are a bunch of factors, if the scan reader on the top of the head moves at all the scan can be off, also if the laptop is calibrated wrong, but also the people who manufacture it also adjust the scans sometimes also and things can be off because of that. It took a bunch of tries, but I'm glad I kept bothering them until things fit right. This helmet he did two small file downs for redspots on the cheeks and it has fit perfectly. It doesn't sound like they should have let you keep the son on your helmet, they should have offered to make a new one right away. Ug. I'd insist on a new helmet, though that will be at least two more trips there and I'd ask for a one week follow up with the new helmet. But I totally sympathize with how hard it is, we must have gone back 8 times to get things right. Though they did an initial one week followup after the helmet fit right, and then a 2 week after that. Three weeks seems a long time to go after an initial fitting. I was totally thinking how hard this would be if they were further away or I had a job that wouldn't let me leave to do all these appointments. Guest guest
All of those ill-fitting helmets sound like colossal a waste of time. That is unfortunate because not wasting time is a crucial factor when banding. > > > > From: christineashok <christineashok@...> > > Subject: Re: Anyone had a helmet fabricated > way off!? > > Plagiocephaly > > Date: Wednesday, October 15, 2008, 12:07 AM > > > > Hi , > > it is possible the helmet could be too small if he had > a big growth > > spurt between scanning and getting the band.
