Welcome Peggy-

Does the rash disappear rather quickly, within 15-20 minutes, after

removing the helmet? It sounds like heat rash, which should subside

once his body fully adjusts to the extra heat of the helmet. It

wouldn't hurt to ask your ortho about it though, just to be sure.

Hydrocortisone cream can be used to treat it if it is heat rash, but

my son's would go away so quickly that I never even used it.

What kind of helmet do you have? My son just graduated from the

DOCBand. He had two and began wearing his first one at 17 months

old. We saw great improvement throughout his head shape, but

primarily in his forehead bossing, which really made me happy (it

was pretty severe to start with). It is slower going for older

babies, but you should still see improvement, it's just hard to say

how much for sure.

Good luck!

Hi Peggy,

I read your post and thought I would write because I was sent to cranial

solutions too! How is your son doing with his helmet besides the heat rash? We

are supposed to get our helmet next week. If you are from the area and want to

chat or meet up let me know! I hope the rash goes away soon!!!!
