Guest guest
Hi there- My son began DOCBand (from Cranial Tech) when he was 17 months old. We saw tremendous improvement from two bands. If you are going to band your son at 15 months old, I would strongly recommend Cranial Tech for treatment. They treat a lot of babies over the age of one, many more than most other orthotists I have heard of. There is a Cranial Tech in Clinton, CT (860-664-0587). Hopefully someone in the area can recommend a good specialist for you to see and get the prescription for the band. The DOCBand could last up to 4 months, depending on how fast your son grows (most likely it will last the full 4 months). If you got to Cranial Tech, he will be scanned for a 3D image of his head, which they will use to make the band. About 2 weeks later, you will go back for the first fitting. There will be a one-week follow up visit after that, and then probably based on his age, you will go back at least every 2 weeks for adjustments to the band. We went every 3 weeks because we travelled a distance (almost 3 hours) and he was older. So it might be 3 weeks for you as well. We decided to do a second band and my son ended up in treatment for about 7.5 months. Hopefully, one band will be enough for your son, but if it comes down to it, I think the second band was definitely worth doing, it made as much of a difference as the first one. You can see pictures of my son in our photos section, in the Our Plagio Babies-J folder under Jake W. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck!
