I was also told that it is going to cost me like $400 up front for them to

it. Can you turn this into your insurance company?????

Just wonder...Thanks,

- did Dr. Hess' office give you the paperwork regarding this? I know

they didn't give it to me, but when I talked to Dr. Hess, he mailed it to me.

It is a letter that gives phone numbers to call, etc. Call the office and

ask them to mail/fax you one if they didn't.

Thanks fo rall the info.......I went to the local Red Cross Blood Services

office here in the ville, Indiana area. They are the ones that told me

that they would charge me $400 up front......We will just have to see how it

goes...

I had surgery with Dr. Hess in April 2001. I was required to donate

one unit of blood. I was given a sheet of different places that I

could go to do this. The sheet stated that if I was over 400 lbs I

would have to go to Toledo Ohio Red Cross to give my blood. It was

no big deal. Just went in, filled out papers and waited. Then they

took me over and hooked me up. It was over before I knew it. They

kept the paperwork the doctor had given me and my blood was sent to

Wood County Hospital and there for my surgery...just in case.

Thankfully it was not needed.Who told you about the charge for this

service? I was not required to pay anything for this service. I

dont know if it was mixed in and added to my other hospital charges

or not but I was unsured through Cigna PPO. I am still fighting them

to pay my hospital bill which is $22,000. They capped my claims at

$3000. But thats another story...for another day! I'd give the

office a call and ask them for the paperwork. I believe in most cases

you can have the blood drawn at the hospital nearest you. Good luck

to you.
