Just my humble opinion but if we are going to resort to dipped mattresses and memory foam ect.... Isn't that more risky than just sleeping on the stomach. Also the maker of the noggin nest do not recommend for it sleeping. Only for supervised floor time or in a chair. -From: <b00k_girl@...>Subject: Re: Band is coming off after 7 weeks...and I wish it wasnPlagiocephaly Date: Monday, November 3, 2008, 1:58 AM

I have a mattress toppper from England called Sleepcurve that has a built in dip for the

baby's head. I didn't think it helped much before the band but maybe it will keep him from

regressing. I asked about him wearing it just at night since he hasn't outgrown it yet...it's

still very loose. They said that would deform his head. Not sure why since I think his head

needs improvement and if there is room in the band why not keep going.

I think the real problem is that with a DocBand you can only treat plagio or brachy, not

both since the bands differ so much. He was given the plagio helmet (he actually

developed plagio from me trying to sleep position him to get rid of sever brachycephaly) .

With the plagio band his cranial vaulting (high head) and forehead bossing hasn't been

helped at all and the back is still pretty flat. The slant from the plagio is completely gone

though but his head looks like a before pic though for brachy. They never told me that

they wouldn't be fixing all his problems. For some reason they think his head looks great.

Sigh.

Opinions will differ here as you said. Everyone should feel

comfortable with their own choice and talk to their doctor about what

is best.

Hi,I may be rolling the dice with this one. I did let my son sleep in his noggin nest as he didn't move when he slept at that time. I will say that his head actually looked better after I started using it. He at least got the bump on the back of his head from using it. The orthotist said that he was suprised at how well it worked at getting the bump on the back of his head. But, my son's head was growing too fast to use it and I felt that he could get a circle indent of that thing. Maybe a memory foam version or something similar would have been better. Now, I still got a starband, which worked really well though. I also let my son sleep on his memory foam mattress. It didn't have a divot in it, though. My son sleeps on his stomach the majority of the time. And, I still keep it on there today. So, I guess I did the trifecta of bad things. :) I probably (seriously) checked on my son several times during the night with the noggin nest. I didn't do a lot of night sleeping for a while there. But, I wouldn't change anything I did, except getting him banded sooner. He is 14 months now. Just my two cents. :)KimOn Mon, Nov 3, 2008 at 1:08 PM, wrote:Just my humble opinion but if we are going to resort to dipped mattresses and memory foam ect....
