Guest guest
Correction, I should have said she didn't start wearing the band at night until the END of the first week.... -ShariFrom: sharidlancaster <sharidlancaster@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Sunday, November 2, 2008 12:09:57 PMSubject: Not STTN - is it worth trying to train her to STTN while she has STAR Band? My daughter is 10 months, but she was 3 months early, so her adjusted age is 7 months. She has had her STAR Band for about a month. She wasn't STTN before her band, but shortly before that, she was only getting up one time per night, on average. Now, she is getting up about 3 times per night. She doesn't eat all of those times, she just wakes up & needs some comfort going back to sleep. I have tracked back (I keep a spreadsheet of her eating & sleeping schedule each day) & this actually started occurring the week we got the band...but, she didn't start wearing at at night until the beginning of that first week. So, I don't know if this getting up is tied to the band or if it's maybe a combination of things. Anyway...my question is, do you guys think it's worth trying to train her to STTN while she is in the band or should I wait until she is out of it? Did anyone try the transition to STTN while their child had the band? Any advice is welcome....
Guest guest
I am not a fan of CIO. I am particularly not a fan of CIO while wearing a helmet. I figure if my son is crying and getting all worked up that he is going to end up sweating and then having to sleep in a sweaty band. My son is currently between helmets. He gets #2 on Wed. When he was in his first helmet he was (9-12 months old at the time) he was getting up about once a night. Towards the end he was almost sleeping all the way through, making it to about 5 am. Since he has been out of band #1, he has been sleeping through the night. I guess the real test will be when he gets his second helmet this week. IMHO (since you asked for opinions) it is probably a combo of age and the helmet that is keeping your daughter from sleeping through. Some people on this board have put memory foam on the crib mattress to help their LO's get comfortable sleeping. I did not do this the first time around but probably will now that my little guy is older. Sorry that this post doesn't offer much advice other than that. Maybe someone else will chime in. ________________________________________________________________________ A New Way to Get Free Discounted Offers -- FreeInternet.com! Guest guest
One more thing........maybe instead of trying to sleep train her, you could just send Daddy in to comfort her. My son definitely prefers me at night but settles much more quickly for DH. I guess once he realizes he isn't going to get Mommy, he just goes back to sleep. _____________________________________________________________Click here to find the satellite television package that meets your needs. Guest guest
My son is 5 months and has been STTN since he was 2mths. He has been in his band for 11 days now and for a few days he hasn't Slept through the night. Since Mommy is his hero, I go in his room and rock him back to sleep. I kiss his head and rub his ear to let him know all is well and it seems to work for us. Just holding him close and ignoring the band helps him. Definitly try to get her to STTN but I would not push it with the band. Remember, it's an adjustment for both of you. Guest guest
With regards to using Memory Foam, do people just buy a twin mattress topper & cut it to fit a crib mattress? -ShariMom to Lily - STAR Band for 4 weeksFrom: "dlcfamily1@..." <dlcfamily1@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Sunday, November 2, 2008 7:36:42 PMSubject: Re: Not STTN - is it worth trying to train her to STTN while she has STAR Band? Guest guest
From what I have read on here, people just buy the twin size and cut it to fit. I am seriously considering doing this when we get our 2nd band on Wednesday. My son is now 13 1/2 months. _____________________________________________________________Compete with the big boys.
