Guest guest
i found myself with this dilemma, some years ago, with Prednisone, used for crohn's disease!! each time i weaned off, i would flare-up!! after several tries, what my dr. finally did was wean me down to 1 mg., and kept me on it for one solid year!! it led to several physical impairments - osteoporosis, glaucoma, and high blood pressure - except for the glaucoma, they are under control, with medication!! i no longer need meds for the glaucoma, since all symptoms have disappeared during the 8 yrs. without prednisone!! BUT, I WAS STEROID-FREE FOR THAT 8 YR. PERIOD!! be sure to have your eyes checked for glaucoma, and have a bone density test done, to show just how your bones are doing!! i've had a flare-up in the past month, and am now on entocort (steroid), not as caustic a med as prednisone; so, i'm told. after using entocort, b4, i had my eyes tested, and all was still fine, & the bones had gotten no worse!! will do so, this time, too!! be sure to take calcium, magnesium, & vitamin D, to help protect your bones!! TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOU MARSHIRISAOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at AOL.com.
