Guest guest
Hello ,We took our son to the beach for the first time about a month ago (Santa Cruz, California). It was "interesting." I used one of his dad's baseball hats that fit over the helmet; that was great to keep the sun off the top of his head and face. We also had 5 umbrellas, portable highchair and lots of sand toys.Depending on your son's temperament (and yours) you should be fine. My son Loved watching the other kids play in the sand and he loved the waves. NOTE: No matter how careful you are sand will get in the helmet. When we got home and gave him the usually bath, I had to wash his hair 3 times to get all the sand out. The bottom of the tub was full of sand. Have fun. Hopefully with all the extra hands there you and your husband can get some time to yourselves. Noah rocks a light blue Starband Helmet(6 weeks)10 months next week Beach Tips?Hi, My son (7 1/2 months) has been in his DOC Band now or 4 1/2 weeks. He's doing great, and we're seeing good correction, particularly at the back of his head (still waiting for the asymmetry to correct). Next Saturday we're leaving for a week's vacation down the Jersey Shore with my in-laws. I have a lot to stress over since this will be our first beach week with and his daddy's nearest and dearest (18 immediate family members ages 5 though 70) in tight quarters. These vacations work so well because everyone spends the majority of the day on the beach. I know we won't spend nearly as much time at the beach this year, but we would like to introduce to the sand, water, seagulls, etc. For those of you who have taken your banded child to the beach, what tips can you share? Did they wear their helmet? If not, how long did you spend at the beach and when did you put it back on? How did you handle sunscreen with the helmet? And anything else you can think of? I should add is really an active baby and is now spending lots of time belly crawling around the house. I know it will be difficult to take him to the beach and not give him at least some time in the sand. Thanks, (, 7 1/2 months, 4 weeks in DOC Band)
