Guest guest
We also got our son his DOC band early at 4 1/2 months and doing it this early he had many growth spirts and only needed to wear the band 8 weeks. He was moderate to severe when we began so we were very happy. You should be done with any luck right around Christmas and New Years. Anywho,,,, we used rubbing alcohol 75% and cleaned the inside of the band with a new toothbrush. We scrubbed the band for about 3 minutes and then set it to dry infront of a counter top ocolating fan. It worked great to dry it quickly and we never really had smelly issues. My son got a few red spots and due to his young age we were told to by less than 1% cortizone cream. The 1% would have been too strong for him at that young age so the .5% was the best. We found it at CVS but you may have to search around we didnt have it at Rite Aid or our local pharmacy. Also, we switched him to a great line of bathing products. California Baby. They make a super sensitive wash for hair and body. We loved that it was super mild and worked so well. We still use it. I found that the more fragrances and chemicals found in s and others were irritating his head. I wanted the most mild shampoo because his head was going to be in that helmet so many hours. This was a great thing to get. I belive Target now stocks California Baby or you can order it at Diapers.com. So, get the less that 1% cortizone cream for red spots, 75% alcohol and a new toothbrush, and switch to California Baby shampoo and body. You will be all set!!!!!!!!! Good luck and keep asking questions as they arise. Tammy mom to banded 10/31/07-12/31/07.15mm differerence to start and 2 mm when done! My daughter who is 5 months old is getting her DOCband tomorrow. I really hope that she adjusts well to it. Can someone tell me what type of alcohol to get for cleaning because I want to get it ahead of time and what cream do I use for the red spots if she gets them? I want to have everything on hand in case I need it. The appt is at 11am. Im trying to savor her bare head. Any thoughts or comforting comments would be appreciated!
