We live in Bangor Northern Ireland and have a 3yr old son with bilateral

talipes. We had the same problem as you in that there is a lack of

experience and knowledge within Ireland related to Ponsetti treatment. We

travel to Gavin De Kiewiet in Sunderland for treatment and have done since

Josh was born. I am aware of other parents within Northern Ireland who have

done the same. We initially paid for all costs ourselves but after a long

and arduous battle we finally got our Health Board to cover our costs and

back pay what we had already spent. Josh is doing very well, running,

fighting, jumping as if he never had anything wrong. We now travel every 6

months for ongoing reviews.

Ponsetti method in Ireland

My son (now 4 months) has severe bilateral positional talipes and has

only been strapped twice. We live in Ireland and are wondering if

anyone knows of an orthepedist who practices the Ponsetti method in

Ireland. Not having much luck with our GP and the consultant we are

going to see in Cork city has apparently never heard of it.

Cheers

Hi there

Our Lady's hospital for Sick Children in Dublin follows the Ponseti

method. There is someone who now practices the method in Northern

Ireland, I'll see if I can find out which hospital it is.

Regards

Stella
