Guest guest
Hiya, Actually, I was supposed to have my wisdom teeth out. Because of that, my doctor told me he would not be able to screw my jaw in place and I would just be wired. When I woke up from surgery though, he told me there would have been too much open tissue to pull my teeth - they were farther impacted than he first thought- and he had also not used the rigid fixation- just wires. So now I still have my wisdom teeth and I am tied shut for 5 weeks. He said I will eventually have to have my wisdom teeth out but frankly, if they don't bother me- which they haven't till now, I don't think I will be bothering them. My huge amount of swelling was just my own response to the surgery. My swelling was huge, I know. If I had known to expect that much, it would not have been as shocking- I think was just a little overwhelmed by how big my skin was able to stretch to. Just knowing it might be swelling is the only prep you really need. Good Luck! Tova > > Did you have you wisdom teeth taken out at the same time as the jaw > surgery? I thought I saw somewhere on here you posted you did. I'm having my wisdom teeth taken out as well and was curious > if that was maybe why you seemed to be more swollen than others a bit > (I looked at your pic). Guest guest
I think now that I know that I could swell that much, I'll be prepared enough. If I had just woken up for the surgery and looked int he mirror and say that my face was the size of a basketball I would of probably freaked out a little. My mom wants to take pictures of me right after surgery, not sure I'm up for that or not but who knows. If she does I'll have to post it them on here (she has a digital cam, will be easy enough to post).
