Guest guest
Shane (12 1/2 months )had his exit photos, scan and measurements done today. He had been in the DOCBand since June. Though not a surprise, his change was very minor. He did get some change at the skull base but only changed 1mm up top (he went from 11 to 10). I will say that the skull base change does make a difference. It definitely gives him a " profile " so to speak. However, looking at him from behind or from the bird's eye view, I am still upset by what I see. What I am asking from the members of this group is an honest opinion on a second band. I know that it is up to us, but I would really like to know what you would do in the same situation. If we go for a 2nd band he will likely not get it until he is 13 months old. Honest feedback is much appreciated.
Guest guest
We had a hanger - and went for the 2nd band. I wanted to try everything I could to get the most correction possible. My dd's skull was mild to beginwith but she had facial asym. and we wanted to try and fix that if possible. I didn't want to have any regrets of "what if we had done the 2nd band" later in life so we did it. Guest guest
We went for a second DOCband and I think it made a huge difference. In fact, I just got his exit mold in the mail today (very odd opening a box with your son's head in it) and spent a good 15 minutes comparing it to his before head mold and also his middle (pre second band) head mold. The difference from before and after is really remarkable. Even with their hair wet in the tub, you don't really see all the different slopes and angles, you just mainly see the flat spot, forehead bossing and ear alignment. But the molds really show every imperfection, which to me is really great, because you can then really see every area that improved, even if it's very small. The difference between his first and second molds is definitely visible, but not as great as the difference in his second and third molds. The second band really made additional improvements to his head shape that made the experience very worthwhile, and made me very happy with our final results. And my son was a lot older than yours when he started (17 months). I would say it's worth doing a second band, if anything you get more correction out of it, at worst, none (which I think is very unlikely), but at least you can say you tried it and won't have any regrets. For me, the regret of not doing something is harder to deal with than disappointment at a lack of positive results. My son's photos are posted in Our Plagio Babies-J under Jake W. if you want to take a look. Good luck with your decision. Please keep us posted.
