First I want to say thank you for having this group. I have been reading the

posts and the

information has been very helpful.

My 5 month old daughter got her Starband last Tuesday and has adjusted well to

it. Two

questions:

1. Does the 90% alcohol really make a difference in the smell?

2. When I take the band off the back of her head seems dry. She shakes her head

vigerously

like she's trying to rub it on whatever she's laying on. Is there something I

can put on it to

help?

Thank you again for all the support your group provides.

Welcome-

Glad things are going well with the new StarBand. I'm not sure about

StarBand (some orthos say different things), but Cranial Tech

(DocBand) says only use alcohol, since it evaporates quickly. Using

anything with water to clean it, can trap moisture in the foam if

not completely dried and cause skin irritation. You can try a

smellier shampoo on her head, that seems to help with the smell.

Also, I found that after each adjustment, when they shave some of

the stinky foam out, the smell improves, at least for a while. It

was also worst in the first couple of weeks, and then it got better

(or you just get used to it?).

Sorry, I can't help with the itch, hopefully someone else can.
