It is not uncommon for there to be fluid build-up near the ear

area. It is also common in the area where there is a gap in the band (not

all bands close all the way and there will be a small gap under the

strap). I would check with the ortho to see what his explanation is for

the bulge.

Subject: [sPAM] Starband - Bulge below ear

Hi -

Our 5 month 3 week old son has been in his Starband for 4 weeks 1

day now. The correction for his right side plago has been great - at the two

week mark we were amazed.

He did have a sore spot around his ear, so the orthotist made the

ear opening bigger. He did it on the wrong side though......But noticed and

fixed it at the office.

Now on the side it did not need to be made bigger, above his ear,

it is starting to bulge.

Has anyone had this happen? I think the only way to fix it would

be to get a new band - aaaaaaaaaaahhhh!! Since he made the opening too large

above the ear it isn't like he can put material back - Any ideas? What should I

say?

Thanks,

Annie
