I was told by CT that they would be seeing my son aon a weekly basis.

I was told at the Starband provider that he would be seen every 2

weeks, possibly three depending on growth. How often are you kids

being seen at your provider? Do you think that it should be weekly?

My son is 5 months one week with severe plagio and slight brachy. 18mm

It depends on age...at 5 months I would think every week or two at the

most but it also depends on how fast your little one grows.

My son started his STARband when he was 6.5 months old. We went for an

adjustment one week after we got the band then went every three weeks after

that. If there had been any red marks on his head indicating that an

adjustment was needed we would have gone back sooner. Your ortho was

correct that the adjustments would depend upon growth. Typically, the

younger the child is the faster their head is growing and the more often

adjustments are needed. If you don't feel comfortable being seen every

three weeks then ask to go more often.

We were told originally by CT that my son would go every 2 weeks

because he was 17 months old and not growing very fast, but at our

first adjustment, our therapist changed it to every 3 weeks. I would

think a 5 month old baby, who is most likely coming up on a huge

growth spurt (around 6 months), could not go 3 weeks without an

adjustment. Usually I've heard that age range starts at 1 week

adjustments, and then might move to 2 weeks as they get a little older

(a couple months down the road). Two weeks isn't unreasonable, but I

think they really just have to wait and see how fast your baby grows

before they can say for sure. You can always take him in earlier for

an adjustment if the band seems to get too tight.

At my first appointment, CT explained to me that the length between visits depended on the age of the child. My son is 10 months old. We are seen at CT every two weeks.

My son is in a StarBand. He was banded at 5 1/2 months. We went once a

week for the first three weeks. Then every two weeks (2x). Our last

adjustment, she asked us to be seen in three weeks. That being said,

our son had a major growth spurt right before getting the band. We are

due for a follow up this Thursday. I'll be curious to see when we are

seen again.

CT seems to have a stricter protocol for seeing kids. 1 to 2 weeks

depending on age. I haven't noticed starband parents going weekly. We

went every 2 weeks at first (started at 5 mo) but after 6.5 mo old

they switched to every 3 weeks. Often we had to go a little early

because she needed an adjustment sooner.
