Hi Jess,

How is Luke doing with his helmet besides red spots? Does he notice it? It

must help being an occupational therapist. My ortho did shave it down in the

front a little bit, but wanted her to wear it for a little while before he makes

too many changes. Does Luke's helmet still have room to slide a little or is

it snug? McKenna's is a little loose but I was told she would grow into it- I

hope that is normal!! I hope the rest of week one goes well! Keep me posted

on Luke's progress, it is nice to have people to go through this with!!!!!!!

THanks,

Hey Jess and ,

My 5 month old daughter Tori just got her band on Monday...i think thats around when your children did. I have been reading all the posts and thought I would say Hi. Tori has had all the things you guys have been talking about. It gets red on her left sideburn and her band does shift a little which IS completely normal until there head grows into it. Thats the point. There has to be room in spaces for there head to grow to make that rounder shape. I had to take my daughter back on Friday because there were a couple of spots that wouldnt go away. My clinician said that it was more heat/sweat rash related and to towel dry her head and band 4 to 5 times a day...so if your seeing that you might want to try. So glad there are a few people going through this within a few days. Keep in touch and email me any time.

Tori-DOCband Day 7

Hey - Luke's helmet DEFINITELY has a lot of space in the front and back where eventually (hopefully!) his head will fill it in. It moves a tiny little bit, but not a lot. His "sideburns" make him a little red, too... I think I put his helmet back on a little too early last night after I cleaned it with the rubbing alcohol - tonight I realized it wasn't fully dry when I went to put it back on, and it occurred to me that the redness on his forehead that showed up this morning was because his skin was irritated from the alcohol last night! I felt so bad! Oh well - lesson learned! So far he's been pretty good about sleeping with it on. Does McKenna sleep on her belly yet? As soon as my oldest started to roll onto his belly that's the only way he ever wanted to sleep - so I wonder what will happen with Luke when he starts rolling... like if the helmet will get in the way or something... .

But so far he really just doesn't seem to be bothered by the helmet at all whether he's awake or asleep. I don't know if it's because he's just so young or because he's so easygoing (he has his daddy's personality! ;-) You'll have to keep me posted, too - we seem to be at the same stage of this journey! jess> > > From: jsydney07 <jsydney07@. ..>> > Subject: Re: day 2 helmet- is sliding normal?> > Plagiocephaly> > Date: Saturday, October 11, 2008, 4:25 PM> > Hi !> > McKenna got her helmet - that's great! Hi ,

Glad to hear that we are all in the same boat! I am glad Tori seems to be

adjusting pretty well. McKenna is adjusting pretty well too. It is also nice to

know that other people have some of the same issues too! McKenna just turned 6

months last week, but I kind of wish we banded her earlier- we were trying to

see if repo would help, and our ped was going to wait until the end of Oct at

our 6 month check up- but I didn't want to wait until she was almost 7 months to

start the process. I just think she may have had to wear it a shorter time

period if we started earlier, like you guys and Luke (Jess's Son). But better

late than never.

How long did they predict Tori will be in her band? I guess they never know

how quick they will grow. She actually grew quite a lot between 4- 5 months, but

has seemed to slow down. We will see.

I hope Tori continues to do well and I will be in touch! Have a good week!

Thanks for writing,

When we went in for our consultation they quoted us 6-8 weeks which we didnt think would be too bad. At this point i will keep it on her till she is "fixed" you know. i have to say that it is a little more work for me and her sleeping has been an issue. if she wakes up in the middle of the night which she always does...not to eat but just wakes up...she isnt able to put herself back to bed like she was able to without the band. so i have to get up a couple times a night to pop the bink back in her mouth. overall not a horrible experience yet. I have my first check up tomorrow. do you have the docband or something else? i cant remember.

HI ,

You will have to let me know how your appointment goes tomorrow- do you go

to cranial tech in Paramus? We go to cranial solutions in Pompton- that is what

our ped recommended- he took his son there. Wow- 6-8 weeks is pretty short! We

were told the average time is 12 weeks, I guess it depends on how quickly their

heads grow! Hopefully fast for all of us!! The ortho is very nice, but I hope it

wasn't a mistake not going to cranial tech, but we probably wouldn't have had

her band until about 3 weeks later if we did.

McKenna has similar sleep issues- I am up at ;east twice a night to give

her pacci back- she was never a great sleeper. hopefully, they will get used to

it! If you ever want to have a " playdate " let me know!! Good luck tomorrow!!!

Talk to you soon!

Hey

I actually live in Connecticut. I wish there were more people around here that were going through this. I would have loved to meet up with you. Are there any other boards for Plagio that I might be able to find someone, do you know? Tori has had a good couple of nights. Her mood has started to improve as well. She really is a great little girl. We had to wait a month to actually get the band. We went in right after her 4 month well baby check up and by the time they could get us in for the scan and then 10 days later get the band it was a month. i really like them there so i guess im glad i didnt know of any other places. my ped sent us to CT...I didnt even know what the hell i was going there for really until i went onto their website. funny how fast we learn about things.
