Guest guest
These would both be no-no's. Oats and barley malt have gluten in them. If you go to GFCFdiet.com, click on site map and then click on unacceptable, you can see a list of all unacceptable ingredients in products. Also, anything that lists natural flavors you have to verify the source of the flavor. Sorry...I know how hard it is for you to have to take away a food your child loves. -- In GFCFKids@y..., thehundredacrewoodcc <the100acrewoodcc@y...> wrote: > Two products that my kids love and that we would hate > to get rid of, I am not sure about. > > 1. Guest guest
* Phyllis, To be GF you have to totally eliminate ALL wheat, oat, barley, rye and all foods processed, etc. with these ingredients. The 1st one on your list has barley malt - so that is definetly out. Your 2nd one has oats, so that is out too. Sorry. Try some HFS for cereals. Tell them you want gluten free and casein free. Natures Path (Envirokids) put out Gorilla Munch and Amazon frosted flakes which are both GF and CF. Get a Miss Robens catalog by calling 1-. I like to order from the catalog, rather then the web, as this way I always can look, and their sales people are very knowledgeable on the phone for ALL your q uestions. But if you prefer web thewir site is www.missroben.com (LJs mom) in New York * On Mon, 13 Aug 2001 05:51:51 -0700 (PDT) thehundredacrewoodcc writes: > Two products that my kids love and that we would hate > to get rid of, I am not sure about. > > 1. Guest guest
Barley and oats both contain gluten, so both products are definitely not gluten free. are these 2 products GFCF? > Two products that my kids love and that we would hate > to get rid of, I am not sure about. > > 1. Guest guest
* Do you have HFS by you? You need to get a GFCF bread and you can make your own crumbs for the meatloaf They also sell ready made GFCF crumbs. Miss Robens has crumbs too . I get my orders from her in 2 days. I don't know what state you are in, to see when your delivery would be, but I would definetlt start ordering product. Also, if you get a cereal or bread that is GFCF and you don't like it, don't throw it out. Save it and mix it in with others to make a crumb. You can use egg and cooked rice in your meatloaf instead of crumbs. This works great. Here is a recipe for GFCF banana nut bread- Banana Nut Bread 1 cup mashed bananas 3/4 cup sugar (I use less about 1/2 cup) 1 tsp. vanilla 2 eggs 1 & 1/4 Cup white rice flour or GFCF blend 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 cup oil 1 tsp. xanthum gum Combine mashed bananas, sugar and vanilla in bowl and beat at medium speed for one minute. Add eggs and mix well. Combine dry ingredients. Add banana mix alternating with oil to dry mixing well at low speed. Pour batter into 2 8x4 pans. (I make muffins instead). Bake at 350 for 50-60 minutes. I have not made this myself, so don't know how it is. Another mom had posted this to the list. But remember - you need to throw your old flours out and get some rice flour, tapioca, potato, sorghum etc. Mix some together, rather then using any 1 straight. Never make one large cake or anything - they tend not to cook right. Its better to make several small cakes, or make muffins, cupcakes, etc. (LJs mom) on Long Island New York ** On Mon, 13 Aug 2001 06:21:18 -0700 (PDT) thehundredacrewoodcc writes: > Well, there goes the meatloaf and banana bread I was > planning on making for this week. Guest guest
Poha flakes, perhaps. Also, I have a banana bread recipe that is gfcf, if you want it. As far as meatloaf goes, I crush up gfcf puffed rice and add it to the recipe. Otherwise, you can make your own bread crumbs from gfcf bread. a - Peoria IL >>>>>.Well, there goes the meatloaf and banana bread I was planning on making for this week.
