Guest guest
After a long battle, we were finally reimbursed for our helmet and doctor services. Here is the totally crazy part - the biggest resistance came from Vanderbilt Hospital! After our first denial, we submitted an appeal to our insurance. They only asked us for a number from the hospital so they could reimburse us. Vanderbilt REFUSED to give us one. We talked to several assistants who tried to get rid of us and tell us we had signed a form that implied we would pay in full and we agreed to that. They told us it was a " courtesy " that they were even talking to us since we were no longer patients! I really don't like to badmouth anyone. I don't think it's good for anyone, but I really need to say that I feel that it is a terrible thing to try to prevent people from getting their baby's medical bills paid! I won't mention the doctor by name, although I'm sure many of you know who I'm talking about, but I'm not sure why he does not want to issue an insurance number for this billing. We demanded to talk to the doctor and assistants kept telling us he was " busy " and we were no longer patients! After several more calls, we finally got to talk to him. He acted as if he had nothing to do with billing and finally we were reimbursed by the hospital. Here's an interesting thing to ponder people: WHY would the hospital try to prevent us from being paid by our insurance? Are they trying to not deal with the insurance companies because they want to be paid up front? Isn't this unethical? Mind you the doctor told us on day one our insurance would not pay and not to bother. To tell you the truth, it was actually pretty easy. Our main resistance was from Vanderbilt Hospital. That is what took us nearly a year to get reimbursed. But the point is not to badmouth a doctor or insurance company. The point is not to give up. If you encounter resistance at this hospital, don't give up and tell them you know someone who was paid!!! They must have some way to get that number to you!!! Good luck everyone!
