Guest guest
Just wanted to give everyone an update. Tori got her DOCband on yesterday and slept like a champ last night...I hate to say it but better than normal. She had one stubborn pink spot when she woke up that took a while to go away but I watched it at my 3 hr checks and never saw it again. I think it was due to however she slept. Took her out in public quite a bit today. One woman stopped me in the grocery store to tell me that her son just graduated two months ago. We talked for 10 minutes...it was very soothing...as I headed out the door a woman in her 60's was walking in with her husband and I heard to say " Hey look at the baby with the helmet " . So far a very positive experience. Please if anyone is wondering whether they should go ahead and get the band, I highly recommend it...we are all here to share our stories and to get advice. Anyone can email me personally if they like. Tori-DOCband Day2
Guest guest
Dear , Thank you so much for your post! My daughter is getting her band on Friday and I am very anxious about how she will sleep and about any reactions on her head, not to mention about people's reactions. But it is always nice to hear positive things from other parents. Did you do anything special to help your daughter sleep in the band, or did she just sleep as usual? Thank you and I am glad you had a smooth transition!! Guest guest
, I didn't do a thing differently. She slept again fine last night. She really doesnt even know its on her head...Your gonna get stares but most people wont say anything if they dont have something nice to say. one lady in her 60's or 70's stopped and said hello to her said she was so cute and called her by her name....written on the band. im not afraid to take her out anymore and all my anxieties have gone away. email me anytime. > From: heather_migliore <heather_migliore>> Subject: Tori end of Day 2> Plagiocephaly> Date: Wednesday, October 8, 2008, 12:37 AM> Just wanted to give everyone an update. Guest guest
The most reactions I got were little kids asking why she was wearing it. I always thanked them for asking and depending on how old they were I would say she had a boo boo that was getting fixed or told them that she had a flat spot on her head and that this was fixing it. Some parents seemed mortified that thier kids asked but I told put them at ease and they would say they never knew thats what they were for. A couple of older ladies asked if she had had surgery. Some just said " what a cute baby! " and ;like I used to be; many would just look and smile probably wondering as I did why that baby had to wear a helmet. My favorite was when a mom who had been through it would come up and ask me how it was going and share their story. Despite what we think of the world today most people are nice and we never got a bad reaction.
