Guest guest
My daughters hair actually grew faster while banded. Angie Hair Loss when wearing the helmet We haven't experience hair loss wearing the helmet but hair loss just because our son () was losing hair to begin with. We did cut his hair because it was pulling when we were taking the helmet off and on. We also make sure we don't expose to much heat. Here in Texas it can be very hot but all places have air continuing. If we go outside and it will be hot I put a little bit of baby powder on his head to help with the moisture. Use unscented baby powder with corn starch and baby powder or do you own mix and most babies are not allergic to it. Guest guest
Thanks for your post Angie, We are picking up my daughters' band on Friday and was very sad to hear several people had hair loss, but glad it is not the same for everyone. Although, it sounds like everyone's hair did grow back!! I am getting nervous about all these things to worry about, blisters, hair loss. I hope I am doing the right thing! Guest guest
You are welcome. The worst time for us during the whole banding process was the time between casting and fitting. BUt once we got the band, everything was fine. Her hair grew great while banded. If you are concerned about McKenna's headshape, then you are doing the right tihng. When she gets her band, I would be sure to take it off and on several times at the office to make sure you are ocmfortable doing it. I forgot to and then when I got home I was very nervous and ended up going back. Luckily for us we only had a 15 minute drive. Also take weekly photos every week or 2 to have progress to compare. That was really awesome to be able to see all the correction occurring from week to week. Good luck and be sure to let us know how it is going Angie Jenna(STAR grad 2003) Kylie repo Hair Loss when wearing the helmet> > > > We haven't experience hair loss wearing the helmet> but hair loss just because our son () was losing hair> to begin with. > We did cut his hair because it was pulling when we were> taking the helmet off and on. Guest guest
Even the worst case scenario of blisters and such would be temporary. An odd shaped head would be for life. I'm sure you are doing the right thing On Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 3:23 PM, Roper <sbmcd15@...> wrote: Thanks for your post Angie,We are picking up my daughters' band on Friday and was very sad to hear several people had hair loss, but glad it is not the same for everyone. Guest guest
Don't worry about the hair loss or any other 'temporary issue' that you may experience because of the DOC band. The long term effects far outway any issues. My daughter had two bands for a total of five months. She was born with lots of hair (she almost needed a hair cut right away!!). I didn't notice any loss of hair, but I did notice that it didn't grow very much during that time. She has had her band off for almost a month now and her hair is growing in nicely. You ARE doing the right thing, I couldn't be happier with my decision!! Good luck and keep faith!
