Guest guest
My son got his helmet off on 7/29 after 8weeks, because he grew out of it. We saw a lot of change, and now he is considered " mild " . CT said they could do a second band, but we said no for now. We didn't decide to get another helmet, b/c our insurance doesn't cover it, so we had to pay for the first one out of pocket. I'd like to hear what you all think about a second band--if you had to do it, what were your reasons, etc. His measures were as follows: Measurement Beginning/end Cranial Vault 12mm/6mm (top of head) Largest Asymmetry 26mm/12mm Mid-Face 10mm/5mm (eyes) Skull Base 12mm/4mm He turned 7months yesterday, so we still have time to do one if we decide that. Guest guest
That's a tough decision. It is so much easier to decide when they are more severe. I always tell everyone to ask yourself if you can be happy with the current headshape. If the answer is no or you tihnk you may wish you would have later I would say go for it. That is if you can financially. Our insurance didnt cover my daughter's band either. Angie Got helmet off, but should we get a second one?? Guest guest
Seven months is still very young and you could still get a lot of work done. Also there's the possibility of regression. We were on the fence too about getting a second helmet for our son, who finished his first helmet with 8mm of assymetry and significant bossing on his forehead. I'm so glad we got it -- he's now perfect and it only took an additional 7 weeks. On the other hand, your son has improved dramatically! And the most important thing is not measurements but looks. If you're happy with the way his head looks now then maybe he's done. The financial issue is definitely a big deal. We were lucky to have our first helmet covered and expect to get the second one covered as well. > > That's a tough decision. It is so much easier to decide when they are more severe.
