My reply didn't show up so I will post again - maybe I just sent it

to your personal address.

Finally another Michigander! Only one other on here really but this

blog is still super helpful. I had/am having a great experience with

the U. My Braydon had to go to PT (For torticollis) here at the U and

got his helmet around 5 months old from mich ortho and prosthetics.

He is now 9 months and had a great experience. The orthotist you will

see at Michigan Ortho and prosthetics will most likely be Ammanath P.

He is awesome and the CREATOR of the michigan molding helmet. How

much better can you get! I just realized he was the inventor of the

helmet at one of our recent visits, he never talks about it but I

told him, he should brag about it! He is great. The best thing is,

even if you are overly concerned, as most mom's are, he will see you

and make you feel at ease. I have really loved our experience and you

hardly ever wait more than 10 minutes in that office, awesome,

right!? I would be happy to help you out in any way I know how. We

have had great results...quickly. I think we caught two really great

growth spurts. Please feel free to ask me anything you want at any

time. hfix2002@... - great luck to you! heather

We had a less than positive experience with U of M. We had a "trainee" OT. While we did get improvement in the first 90 days, we had no improvement in the second 90 days despite substantial growth. After much research and soul searching, we switched to Michigan Orthotics in Livonia. They use the Star band. I won't indulge in a band debate but can say for many many reasons I would NOT give U of M a recommendation. We wasted 4 months in a poor fitting helmet which resulted in less than ideal results. I will always wonder what could have been -- we ended up at 7mm most others with ending measurements end in a better place. Interestingly we have had improvement since retiring the second helmet which is a blessing - I think we are now closer to 5mm. I will say that after checking with every OT facility in the greater Detroit area, Ammanath comes highly recommended by other

OTs. We simply lost confidence after many many discussion with the trainees supervisor Greg and others.
