Guest guest
Hi, My name is Amie and I'm 31. I have three children. I had PA with my last two which are 4 and 21/2. I would never take anything internally while(or while trying to conceive except aspirin) pregnant no matter what people say about they took it and they where fine during pregnancy. From my experience your PA may flare after you have the baby due to added stress. You can always go on something then unless you breast feed. Last June,2005 I started Enbrel and it worked wonderfully. My skin was cleared in a matter of weeks and my joints had no pain. I switched just recently to Remicade not because the Enbrel was working but because it was cheaper to take the Remicade. My Copay was $100.00 for Enbrel. I always thought while pregnant what if something happened to the baby that I could have prevented. I wouldn't be able to live with myself. It's only nine months out of your life to insure you've done everything possible to grow a healthy baby. I'm not against these drugs. I'm against taking them while pregnant or while trying to conceive. These drugs are fairly new. They really don't know what can happen. So be one the safe side. I hope the best for you. Regards, Amie, Pennsylvania tiffanyfloydprado <tfloyd@...> wrote: I was recently diagnosied with PA. After about 18 months. I'm 31 and TTC our first child. I'm trying not to take any drugs. Does anyone have tips? My RA doc wants me to take Enbrel but the OB says NO. [Editor's Note: There are no clinical studies that I know of regarding Enbrel and pregnancy, however, one woman who used to be on this list (maybe still is), took Enbrel throughout her pregnancy and she and her baby did just great. A number of women also experience relief from PA during pregnancy without taking any medications. If you search our archives using the words " Enbrel and pregnancy " you might be able to find a lot of the posts from the member who took it during pregnancy. In any case, it is a tough choice given there isn't enough evidence one way or the other. Kathy F.]
Guest guest
My Rheumy said no way to use of Enbrel and pregenancy, actually she had me take 3 months off prior to trying to conceive. She really feels there is not enough knowledge on the subject to take the chance. I took sulfaslysine prior to conception with my first. The Rheumy and OB felt it had been tested (by previous birth outcomes) enough over the years to warrant a limited risk to the use of it during that time. I was able to completely go off meds while I was pregnant both times- acactually I loved being pregnant because the aches and pains of pregnancy were so much better then my regular pain from arthritis. Good luck I know it can be a challange but it is definately worth the pain of not being on very effect meds for me. As I am a happy mother of two great kids now! Guest guest
We have been trying to get PG now for about 2+ years. If I'm not PG this cycle. We will do an IUI in APril. Everyone suggest for me to get the Pregnancy over with so we can start a treatment. I've also read the during Pregnancy that the PA goes into a remission. Have you ever heard this? [Editor's Note: Some women, not all, experience remission during pregnancy - but don't count on it. If it happens for you, great, but it might not. Guest guest
Hi ~ One of the first things I asked when I joined this group was about PA and pregnancy... and about 2/3 of women show a decrease of symptoms... the bigger they got, the better they felt and many had huge flare ups after giving birth. I am sort of in your boat, though I haven't been actively " trying " to conceive just yet. I hope it happens this summer.... it needs to as I am 35. I am scared to death of not being able to take anything during the first part of pregnancy. My experiences have been awful with no medication.... and I am a full time teacher which has lots of walking around and stress. I know you aren't supposed to tell anyone for 2-3 months, but it will be so obvious with me.. and the way I walk/move without any meds. Good luck, , and please keep us updated!!!! I would love to hear about your pregnancy experiences along the way... What meds are you taking now?? My rhuemy said the same thing about getting the preggers over with, then come back for some heavier meds.... I have such a fear of not taking anything that I am afraid it will hinder being able to conceive. Jody CA tiffanyfloydprado <tfloyd@...> wrote: We have been trying to get PG now for about 2+ years. Guest guest
Jody-I " m 31 and it seems like we didn't catch it htis month. I will be trying an IUI next. I tried last week to go off of my meds I'm currently taking Celebrex twice a day. I was dying in a few days. So some times I wonder how I will make it with 9 months. Guest guest
Amie- Thanks to the advice. I'm currently taking Celebrex. They can say you can take it up to the thrid trimester. I'm going to take until I get a postive test. Which this month I " m out next month we will be doing an IUI. I feel so much better talking with people that understand what i'm going through, Everyone thinks I'm crazy because I always have a new pain or swelling. Thanks Again, > I was recently diagnosied with PA. After about 18 months. I'm 31 and > TTC our first child. I'm trying not to take any drugs. Does anyone have > tips? Guest guest
Sorry to piggy back on April's email, but we are also new here. I am interested in the study that was supposed to be forthcoming in 2006 concerning LDN and ASD kids with the immune parameters. Could someone kindly direct me to the results of that study or tell me the study status? Thanks in advance, [low dose naltrexone] New Here!!!! > Hello I am Nre Here and New to the Autism World.
