Guest guest
I have been MIA the last few weeks, but if you dont remember me and my questions I posted previously we have a 4 month old son who has plagiocephaly. I noticed it at 2 months and we did positioning technique to no avail, so at his 4 month check up our pediatrician referred us to a specialist of who we saw today. Its a go for banding. Our son will get his STARband in 10 days. Im glad to have my worry over with, but apprehensive to begin treatment. has mild to moderate plagiocephaly. He has nearly perfect facial symmetry but his ears are 7mm different and he has mild bossing on his right brow bone which will probably not improve without help. The back of his head has improved since 2 months, but the doctor agrees it will probably not correct itself any further. Our insurance company will cover treatment if it is medically necessary, so it all depends on how the claim is submitted. It will be $2064 out of pocket for all care and follow ups, which is about half of what I expected, so we are proceeding before insurance approval. If they pay, great, if they dont I really dont care. So begins our journey. Im glad to have this group to fall back to for support. Thank you for reading this and Im looking forward to showing you pictures of our little dude in his STARband!
Guest guest
Glad to hear you've got the ball rolling. Starting band treatment at 4 months is great, time in the band should be less than most older babies (as long as he grows at a good pace) and I'm not kidding when I say this, the time really flys by. I have to remind myself often that my son has been wearing a band (well 2 actually) for over 7 months, it still seems like just yesterday I was freaking out about starting treatment! And you won't have nearly as long as that to deal with it, hopefully just 2-3 months depending on his growth rate. Good luck! Can't wait to see photos! Jake-2 on Friday!
