I think the key to knowing a good ortho is first to feel comfortable with them when you meet with them. You can always do some research on them to after you've had your first meeting with them. What kind of policy do you have with UHC? If you went with the Hanger facility, would it be in network for you? Reason I asked is I have UHC and live in the Phoenix area. at the time that my son Spencer needed to be put in a band, I had no idea that there were anyother facilities in Phoenix aside from CT. Since cranial bands are not covered in my policy with UHC we just paid for things out of pocket and went with CT. We had a GREAT experience with CT. Mendy was our clinician and she was fantastic. Spencer adjusted to the DOC band very quickly. I think a lot of that was due to the fact that the DOC band is small and light weight..

Best of luck with your decision.

[sPAM] How do I know a good orthotist when I see one??

It is so helpful to read everyone's thoughts and stories. I took my son , 6 months old, to CT for an eval and they recommended correction. I then found out, CT is out of network for UHC and will not be covered. Does anyone have any experience with Hanger in Phoenix? Would anyone be able to recommend a specific orthotist? How do I determine if someone is a good orthotist? I would appreciate any feedback, I feel like this is such a huge decision to make, DOC or Hanger...
