Guest guest
Hi everyone, I am new here, my son Zachary is 9 months old now. I was happy to find this group. I had another group " the Dodgers list " that helped me heal my daschund of her back problems without surgery so I am a firm believer in web groups. When he was 2 months old my dr. told us he favored his left side and wouldn't hardly look to the right. She also noted that his ears were asymetrical. So we worked with him on turning his head to the right-and that got better. At his 4 month checkup my husband spoke with the dr because he had a flat spot on the side of his head that had gotten worse. My husband said it was because I wouldn't let Zachary sleep on his stomach at night- and so from then on I began putting him on his tummy to sleep at night-even though I hated it. We got his head measured at 4 months and one of the measurements was 11 mm. We were told that he had severe plagiocephaly and we could get the helmet now or wait. We decided to wait and see if it would correct itself. So now here we are 5 months later and we have an appointment on Wednesday to get the scan again. It has gotten much better-much better- however if you look at the side you can still see the " flat spot " . My dr. made the comment at his 9 month checkup that if we were gonna do the helmet she wished we would have done it sooner. I guess I am just looking for encouragement- because I thought I was doing the right thing by " back to sleep " but I feel that I have caused something that could have been prevented if I wouldn't have been so stubborn and overprotective. What are the chances that his head will be corrected with him being 9 months (probably 10 by the time we get the helmet)- can anyone tell me how long their little (possibly around his age) one was in a starband. I am sad and anxious because I have read the posts and of course surfed the web and saw all kinds of stories.-and I am reminded quite often that this was all caused by me- not directly- but I can read between the lines. Thank you for listening.
