Guest guest
I was told that as long as the red spots go away within 20 minutes of removing the helmet then all is well. However, if the spots are still present after 20 minutes or so, we were told to call the office so we can get in and have the helmet checked. Luckily, all the red spots my son had were gone quickly after removing the helmet. We did notice that he had more red spots in the AM compared to during the day...might be the way he sleeps because he's all over the place when he sleeps. G. Guest guest
Our ortho told us that red spots can linger for an hour or even longer on some children. However, what we need to watch out for are any red spots that don't blanch when you touch them with your finger, as this is the first sign that the skin might break down. If this occurs, our suggested to remove the helmet and come in for an adjustment right away. Our daughter still gets red spots a month into wearing her helmet (also Hanger) but they always turn white when I touch them and so far no skin issues/blisters or anything like that. e (mom to ava; 4 weeks in hanger helmet)
