Guest guest
Hi again! Yet another question... We have an Extra Firm mattress. I know thew are supposed to be firm but is extra firm too much? It feels like a brick! Once we have the helmet do we still do all the repositioning? Sorry for all the questions!! We are new to all this. Thanks,
Guest guest
I can't check for sure because my son is sleeping, but I'm pretty sure we have one of the extra firm mattresses as well. Both my daughter and son slept on it fine, so they must not know the difference! No, once you have the helmet, there's no need to reposition. Although it might still be helpful if you are dealing with unresolved tort (just by placing her so that she is motivated to look to her weak side to build up strength, but there's no need to keep moving her head while she sleeps, etc.). Good luck! Jake-22m (tort resolved/rt plagio/DOCBand #2 7 weeks) Jordan-4 > > Hi again! > Yet another question... > We have an Extra Firm mattress. Guest guest
I actually put memory foam over the mattress. I bought a twin memory foam from Target and cut it to fit in the crib. Once Bryce was in the helmet, I did not reposition. If torticollis is still a big issue than repositioning may still be appropriate. I am interested to see other responses to this question. good Luck! firm mattress Hi again!Yet another question...We have an Extra Firm mattress. Guest guest
We too used the foam from Target on top of the mattress. It worked great and we still use it today which is about 6 months since we graduated from our DOC band. We have had little to no regression and my son sleeps soundly from 6pm-6am each night. We bought the 1 1/2 inch foam and cut it to fit the crib and used the extra in the pack and play. We also had an extra firm mattress, we got rid of it and ordered an organic softer mattress from healthychild.com. It cost around 300 dollars but has been worth every penny. He is just so comfortable when he is on his mattress and foam. Good Luck. Guest guest
I bought one of those mattresses that has the firm side for babies and the softer side for toddlers and put it on the softer side. I also put Target foam on top of that. Once my son got comfortable sleeping with the helmet, I took the Target foam out. I'm not worried about regression because he now sleeps on his stomach. > > From: Palmer <reeby@...> > Subject: Re: firm mattress > Plagiocephaly > Date: Sunday, July 27, 2008, 3:28 PM > > > > > > > > > I actually put memory foam over the mattress.
