Guest guest
Hi, Our daughter, Ava (9 mos) has mild right plagio and has been wearing her Hanger helmet full-time for about 4 days. She seems to tolerate it well during the day and during naps, and doesn't appear to mind the occasional on/off routine to check for red marks; plus, her first two nights in the helmet were fine. But, the last two nights have been pretty dreadful. Even before the helmet, she was waking up at least 2x a night to nurse - and I was OK with that b/c nursing for 5 mins would put her right back to sleep. But she HATES to nurse in the helmet it seems...she just rolls her head back and forth over and over again and it makes nighttime feedings (actually all feedings) really hard. When I try to skip the nursing and just give her a pacifier, she still cries and screams and rolls her head back and forth. If I pick her up and fully wake her to soothe her (she is pretty much sleeping through these episodes) then she's fully awake and smiling and happy. Good for her -- not good for my husband and I since we both work full time outside of the home. I've read the other posts about the foam mattress and am thinking of doing something like that too. She does sleep with us, so I'd have to figure out how to fit it in our bed (at least where she sleeps). But I'd love to hear any other advice you have. My other thought is, given that she's 9 months and has no teeth yet...maybe it's just teething and not even helmet-related?? She has on occasion had a few bad nights here and there over the last two months for no apparent reason. I sort of tossed those up to teething, but never really knew what it was. Thanks! e (mom to Ava, 1 week in Hanger band)
Guest guest
Our son sleeps much better in his crib with the helmet on.......He tosses and turns more with the helmet.
