Guest guest
Thanks for your replies. We certainly considered ville which is only about a 3 hour drive. I had heard that they use a high tech scanner. The ortho here in Tallahassee has taken a second scan of Kendall's head and is taking it along with the original scan to a national " helmet convention " as his case study. He said there will be a room full of experts and he is going to get their advice on her case. And we are going to the craniofacial specialist in Tampa on Monday and the ortho said he wants to communicate with the Tampa Dr. regarding Kendall and after all of that, will decide if she needs a different style helmet. The new helmet would be at no cost. Sooo....I guess we will see what comes to light next week and decide which way to run based on that info. This has certainly been a complicated journey up 'til now....of course, in the midst of all this turmoil my daughter and her husband are also trying to appeal the insurance denial for the helmet.....as if one has time for THAT. I feel SO bad for them, and I try to assist them in any way I possibly can. Kendall is their first child and my first grandchild. By the way, I made a mistake in my first posting. Kendall was helmeted on April 16, not May. She adjusted to the helmet like a little angel. At first she didn't like the putting on and taking off, but now she grits her teeth (or I should say " tooth " ) and just sits there until we are done....a real sweetie!! She has had no red spots (which makes me wonder if the helmet is doing anything). Since we live in Florida with unbelievable humidity she gets pretty sweaty, but shampooing daily and cleaning the helmet daily seems to keep it in check. My daughter has a little fan in the car (plugs into car charger thing) and along with blasting the A/C she gets by.
