Guest guest
Hello all, My name is Raechel, I had a baby girl 12/26/07 and recently found out that she has positional plagiocephaly. At first they told me she may need to have surgery because they thought her skull was not growing evenly, but luckily that is ruled out. Now we are going to talk to a Prosthetic Doctor to possibly get some more answers. I found out from my doctor that the helmets cost anywhere from $1800 and above, but like many other people I am strapped for extra money, I was told there was funding options but my family doctor was not for sure what they were. I will actually go to see the Prosthetic Doctor on the 28th but I am worried, about not being able to help my baby girl. I don't know if any of you have experienced this or not. Nor do I know how long she will need to be in the helmet. I am told she should be fine as long as we have thid done now while her skull is still soft. I am just a lost mother and I don't really know where to turn or what to ask?
Guest guest
Welcome, I think you'll be pleased to find plenty of support from this group.A few weeks ago, someone posted a link to a grant available to help. It's at uhccf.org. I looked into it - as long as your household income is below $82,000 a year, you are eligible to apply for assistance.Good luck!Sandymom to Lyla (7 months) 6 weeks in a Doc Bandand Owen 4 New Member...Trying to Find Help with new positional plagiocephaly Hello all, My name is Raechel, I had a baby girl 12/26/07 and recently found out that she has positional plagiocephaly. Guest guest
My husband and I did apply for this grant and are currently being considered. We should know by the end of the month if we receive it. You do have to be covered by a major medical insurance plan. It can not be medicaid. Other than that, the income guidelines are very easy to qualify for and the application process was very easy. You do an online application then mail in documetation. So if your covered by BC/BS or some other major medical insurance definitely apply for help with this. They do pay up to 100% if your insurance won't pay any.
